Alva C. Carter
Alva C. Carter, a native of San Jon, N.M., currently serves as president of the board. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas State University in 1962 and a Master of Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University in 1970. He retired as assistant principal of the Portales school system in 1968. Since then he has been active in agriculture at both local and national levels. A past president of the New Mexico Peanut Growers, he served on the National Peanut Board. He is presently on the national corporate board of Dairy Farmers of America, as well several other local and national dairy boards. He is owner of Big Valley in Portales, Carter's Milk Factory and AC Farms. He and his wife, Mary Helen, live in Portales. |

Pauline Ponce
Pauline Ponce serves as vice president of the board. She became a regent on Jan. 10, 2005. An Eastern alumna, she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1973 and a master's degree in elementary education in 1974. She also received an educational specialist degree in educational administration in 1981. Her career in education began as a teacher in the Roswell school district from 1972 to 1982. Beginning in 1983 she held several administrative positions until 1995, when she was named acting superintendent of the Roswell school district. She served as deputy superintendent from 1996 to 2000. She has returned to the classroom and teaches at an elementary school in Roswell. |

Charles Britton
Charles Britton, a theatre and digital cinema arts major at ENMU, serves as secretary/treasurer of the board. He was appointed as student regent by Gov. Bill Richardson in March 2007, replacing graduate Diego Espinoza. A 2003 graduate of Portales High School, Britton has attended Eastern since the summer of that year. He is the co-founder of the Alpha Omega theatre honor fraternity. A member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, he has been active as a President's Ambassador, member of University Singers, student senator for the College of Fine Arts and participant in intramural flag football, soccer, dodgeball, basketball and volleyball. His volunteer activities include voter registration drives, Relay for Life and chairing the 2006 spring Greater Cause/Community Services.

Marshall Stinnett
Marshall Stinnett completed the term vacated by Dr. Jessica Allsup and was reappointed to the Board of Regents on Jan. 30, 2001. He served as president of the board in 2004 and 2005. He is a Portales native and Eastern New Mexico University alumnus, graduating with a degree in marketing and retailing in 1959. Capping a distinguished career in the newspaper industry, he is now vice president of Southern Newspapers. He lives in Portales with his wife, Helen. |

Chad Lydick
Chad Lydick joined the Board of Regents in February 2008. A New Mexico native, he attended schools in Portales and Clovis and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from New Mexico State University in 1972. He is active in community affairs, having served as a Clovis City Commissioner, past president of the Clovis Chamber of Commerce and current member of the Washington committee for the “Committee of 50” that supports Cannon Air Force Base. He was honored as “Citizen of the Year” in 2005 by both the Clovis Board of Realtors and the Clovis Chamber of Commerce. He is the owner of Lydick Engineers & Surveyors Inc. in Clovis. He and his wife, Vickie, reside in Clovis and have two children who were educated in New Mexico schools and state universities.
