Council of Professors Emeriti

The Council of Professors Emeriti (COPE) of Eastern New Mexico University helps retired emeriti faculty stay connected to friends and involved with the University. COPE sponsors a scholarship for students through the ENMU Foundation that is funded by emeriti faculty donations to the University Foundation. Several members of COPE teach part time, continue in academic pursuits, tutor and volunteer for community projects such as Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels.

COPE is composed of professors who have retired and have been awarded emeritus status by the ENMU Board of Regents upon the recommendation of the University administration. Nonfaculty members, such as administrators, may also become associate members.

COPE members have several luncheon meetings annually and host an open house at homecoming. The ENMU Foundation hosts a luncheon in the spring to recognize distinguished faculty emeritus honorees.
