These Announcements were submitted to the Monday Memo by University Community Members. Announcement submissions must be received by Thursday at noon for publication on the following Monday. To submit your Monday Memo Calendar event, use the Submit Announcement form, and choose "General Announcement" or "Notice" as the Announcement Type.

MONDAY MEMO DEADLINE
The deadline for submissions to the Monday Memo is noon on the Thursday prior to the Monday publication. Submissions may be sent via e-mail to monday.memo@enmu.edu, or faxed to 562.2256. Submissions may also be submitted with the new online forms (see sidebar for all forms).

NEW EDITOR

ANNOUNCING THE ONLINE COURSE HELPDESK
The University Computer Center has a new Online Course Helpdesk to assist you with Online Course concerns. Contact us concerning issues such as connectivity, log-on problems, file transfer or using the Blackboard system. The phone number for the Online Course Helpdesk is 562.HOTT (562.4688) or you can send an email message at Lab.Desk@enmu.edu. Our new Online Course Helpdesk website link is located on the Course introductory page. The Online Course Helpdesk hours are: Monday - Thursday: 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 12 p.m. - 9 p.m.

FACULTY RESOURCE CENTER AND CETP CENTER
The Faculty Resource Center/CETP Center is here to help you develop your classroom presentations. The FRC/CETP Center is located in the Education Building, Room 130. Hardware available includes: video and digital cameras, color scanners, CD burner drives, video capture card and VCR, color printers, zip drives, and tons of software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Premier, Photo Deluxe, Dream Weaver, Microsoft Office 2000, FrontPage 2000, Ulead Movie Studio and much more. Our hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

UNIVERSITY COMPUTER CENTER HOURS FOR JANUARY 14--MAY 10
Thursday: 7 a.m. to 3 a.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday: 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday: 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE
The Defensive Driving Course will be offered on January 28-29 or January 30-31 in the College of Business 109 beginning at 6 p.m. All university employees or students who will be driving or who expect to be driving a university vehicle will need to take the class both days. All persons wishing to attend this class must pre-register with the University Police Department at West 3rd and South Avenue K by January 28. This class is offered free to university employees and students. A charge of $10 to cover the cost of the manual is required for others who may wish to take the course.

CALLING ALL PHI THETA KAPPANS
All Phi Theta Kappans interested in starting an Alumni Association here at ENMU are asked to contact David Rodriguez at David Rodriguez@PTK.org or Bernita Nutt at bernita.nutt@enmu.edu. There will be a planning meeting on January 17 in Education Room 116 from 5-6 p.m. The International President of Phi Theta Kappa, Mr. Warren T. Jackson, will be on campus January 24-27 for the alumni association chartering ceremony and as a Keynote Speaker for the Leadership Conference hosted by ENMU "Eastern's Emerging Leaders".

CONGRATULATIONS!
A research award totaling over $900,000 was bestowed to the following ENMU faculty and their biomedical research projects: Dr. Newton Hilliard Jr, microbial sulfur metabolism in bacteria from extreme environments; Dr. Zhiming Liu, molecular mechanisms of egg development in animals; Dr. Manuel Varela, bacterial sugar transport physiology; and Dr. Nicholas Wright, odor perception, learning and memory in fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster).

The award is a three-year grant from the National Institutes of Health, National Center for Research Resources in Bethesda, Maryland, and is part of the Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network collaboration with other academic institutions and industries throughout the state. The purpose of the award is to provide networking infrastructure to facilitate research and student training collaborations between universities, national labs and industrial partners in the state of New Mexico. In addition, the award establishes a student pipeline for students at the regional schools to move to the Ph.D. granting institutions in the state.

LITERACY COUNCIL
The Roosevelt County Literacy Council offers free GED,
ABE, ESL, and Citizenship classes, Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are located inside the Portales Public Library at 218 S. Ave B, 356-8500. We are also looking for volunteer tutors!

MASTER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Written comprehensive examinations in the Department of Health and Physical Education will be completed according to the following schedule: January 18--James Rodriguez. For more information call ext. 4344.

ALTRUSA CLUB
The Altrusa Club of Clovis and Faith Christian Family Church will host a Community Concert Saturday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. at FCFC. Scheduled performers include O.C. Cleare, David Dawson, Mike and Tishala Martinal, and Sherri Howell. Len Vohs will emcee the event.

Admission is a minimum of three cans of food per person. All collected food items will go to the Life Saver Food Bank. The food bank, housed in Curry County, serves nine counties in New Mexico and west Texas (including Curry and Roosevelt counties).

Tumbling
- with Kara D'Agostino for a 15-wk semester in GA-11 wearing leotard or shorts and t-shirt with bare feet or tumbling shoes (please no socks). The fee is $75.00.
a) Beginning Tumbling - beginning level for ages 3-5 years Thursdays, January 17-May 2, 5:00-5:50p.m.
b) Intermediate Tumbling - beginning to intermediate level for ages 6-12 years Thursdays, January 17-May 2, 6:00-7:00p.m.
c) Intermediate/Advanced Tumbling - for ages 8 years and up Thursdays, January 17-May 2, 7:15-8:15p.m.
d) Routine Tumbling - individual and group moves for dance and cheerleading for ages 12 years and up Mondays, January 14-May 6, 8:00-9:00p.m.

Aqua Aerobics

Speedy One Nighter Cross Stitch
- for beginners with Victoria Garrett, Cozy Cottage Cross Stitch Shoppe, 119 S. Main St., Tuesday, January 22, 6:30-9:30p.m. Registration is $7.00 with a kit fee of $5.00 payable to the instructor.

Phlebotomy Technique Training
- 40-hour lecture/120-hour clinical for this certificate course with Mike Blakenship, CMT, Thursdays, 5:00-9:00p.m, JWLA-121, January 24-April 4 (and completion of clinical at Plains Regional Medical Center-Clovis). Proof of immunizations and liability insurance required. Registration is $275.00. Textbooks available at the ENMU Bookstore.

Hip-Hop
- with Bryan Hahn for a 13-wk semester, GA-11, wearing comfortable clothing/shoes to move in. The fee is $55.00.
a) Beginning to Intermediate Hip-Hop - for ages 8-14 years, Saturdays, 10:45a.m. -12:15p.m, January 26-May 4.

Ballet/Tap/Jazz/Pointe

Yoga and Toning Stretch

Four-Week Cross Stitch

Beading
