MONDAY MEMO DEADLINE
The deadline for submissions to the Monday Memo is noon on the Thursday prior to the Monday publication. Submissions may be sent via e-mail (preferably in 12-point Times New Roman) to monday.memo@enmu.edu.

MONDAY MEMO GOING HIGH-TECH
The Monday Memo will soon go online. When this occurs, employees will receive an email each Monday morning which will include the link to the online Monday Memo. Off-campus recipients should provide their email address to monday.memo@enmu.edu

NEW POLICY FOR CLASSIFIEDS
Beginning in January, only the University community (current and retired employees, and current students) may run classified ads in the Monday Memo. Following the Jan. 28 issue, all previous ads will be deleted and only those freshly submitted by those eligible will be run. Ads will run for two weeks.

12 BUCKS, BUT IT’S FOR A GOOD CAUSE
The annual TRIO Scholarship Luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, in the Ballroom. The luncheon is a celebration of TRIO and an opportunity to contribute to the TRIO Scholarship Fund to assist TRIO students at Eastern. The $12 cost of the luncheon will contribute money to the scholarship fund. Those wishing to attend should RSVP by sending a $12 check per person (made out to Eastern New Mexico University) to: Judy Privett, ENMU--#24, Portales, NM 88130, by Jan. 25. SOME ARE BORN, ENMU GROOMS THE OTHERS
Eastern will host an Emerging Leaders Conference on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26. Warren Jackson, the international president of Phi Theta Kappa, will be the keynote speaker. CALLING ALL PHI THETA KAPPANS
All Phi Theta Kappans interested in starting an Alumni Association at ENMU are asked to contact David Rodriguez at David Rodriguez@PTK.org or Bernita Nutt at bernita.nutt@enmu.edu. The International President of Phi Theta Kappa, Warren T. Jackson, will be on campus January 24-27 for the alumni association chartering ceremony and as a keynote speaker for the Leadership Conference hosted by ENMU "Eastern's Emerging Leaders".

APPLICATION MEETINGS FOR STUDENT TEACHERS
All Eastern students planning to student teach during the Fall 2002 semester must attend a mandatory pre-application meeting to receive the required information concerning application procedures. Three sessions have been scheduled and students may choose the session that is most convenient. Sessions are scheduled for 12-1 p.m. or 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 in the Becky Sharp Auditorium, College of Business. The Feb. 5 session is from 6-7 p.m. in the Sandia Room, Campus Union Building.

Comprehensive Examination Workshop is Feb. 9 from 9:30-noon in Room 125 of the College of Education. Comprehensive Examination is March 9 from 9-noon and resuming from 1-4 in Room 120 in the College of Education.

This is a friendly reminder to all committee chairs and recording secretaries to submit minutes from your committee meetings within the same month of approval. NOON BASKETBALL STILL GOING STRONG
Faculty and staff noon basketball is still going strong. Co-commissioners Wendel Sloan and Don Elder invite all faculty and staff to join them and other regulars each day at noon in Greyhound Arena. Ability is not a prerequisite.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF HOOPS
The Zias and Greyhounds play home basketball doubleheaders on Jan. 24 and 26 in Greyhound Arena against Abilene Christian University and Angelo State University, respectively. The Zia games begin at 6 p.m., followed by the Greyhounds.

The University Computer Center has a new Online Course Helpdesk to assist you with Online Course concerns. Contact us concerning issues such as connectivity, log-on problems, file transfer or using the Blackboard system. Our new Online Course Helpdesk website link is located on the Course introductory page. The Faculty Resource Center/CETP Center is here to help you develop your classroom presentations. The FRC/CETP Center is located in the Education Building, Room 130. Hardware available includes: video and digital cameras, color scanners, CD burner drives, video capture card and VCR, color printers, zip drives, and tons of software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Premier, Photo Deluxe, Dream Weaver, Microsoft Office 2000, FrontPage 2000, Ulead Movie Studio and much more. Our hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

IT’S THOSE NON-EASTERN DRIVERS YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR
The Defensive Driving Course will be offered on Jan. 28-29 or Jan. 30-31 in the College of Business 109 beginning at 6 p.m. All university employees or students who will be driving or who expect to be driving a University vehicle will need to take the class both days. All persons wishing to attend this class must pre-register with the University Police Department at West 3rd and South Avenue K by Jan. 28. This class is offered free to University employees and students. A charge of $10 to cover the cost of the manual is required for others who may wish to take the course.

The Roosevelt County Literacy Council offers free GED (high school equivalency degree), Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, and Citizenship classes (for those trying to earn their citizenship), Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. We are located inside the Portales Public Library at 218 S. Ave B, 356-8500. We are also looking for volunteer tutors!
