Instructor Publishes From Iowa Roots' Seventy-four-year-old Miriam Deen, instructor of English at Eastern New Mexico University, has had a full life. Nevertheless, she has just achieved what may be her greatest accomplishment, publishing a book about her life. "From Iowa Roots" is the story of the Midwestern farm environment that shaped her outlook; her early years in the Martin family; the Iowa schooling that prepared her for her teaching profession; her years of teaching; and her reflections about family members, students, friends and life. Scholarship Adam Williams, senior broadcast journalism major at Eastern New Mexico University, has been selected as a winner of the 2002 Dorothy B. Smith Advertising Scholarship. This $500 scholarship is awarded by the New Mexico Advertising Federation for students studying communications, journalism and advertising in a New Mexico college or university. Williams, a 1998 graduate of Los Lunas High School,
will be invited to attend a New Mexico Advertising Federation luncheon on Tuesday,
Jan. 22 in Albuquerque to receive his award.
Dr. Tracy Carr, oboe and Dr. Jean Wozencraft-Ornellas, soprano presented clinics and workshops Tuesday December 11 for the music students at Ruidoso High School. Carr and Ornellas performed in recital that evening at the Spencer Theatre.
