A Rose and Computer Services By Any Other Name – Effective July 1, the department name of "Computer Services" was changed to "Information Technology Services". The name "Information Technology Services" more properly reflects the scope of the department's activities and responsibility. The name, which will carry the initials of "ITS," has become the standard of use in the industry, higher education, and current technical trade publications. Today technology spans the gamut from desktop/workplace productivity tools to traditional computing with administrative systems, from end-user and executive information access to instructional technologies, courseware, and multi-media. The world and the workplace has changed - today nearly every facet of the University has a technology component from the systems that control the temperature in our buildings to the courseware our students use to study. Technology has moved from the realm of data processing to that of knowledge management. The change of the department name to "Information Technology Services" is both appropriate and timely and reflects the department's role, contribution, and commitment to the institution and its students, faculty, and staff.

Webpage Directory Access – With the inauguration of the new website, units will now have control over the content, maintenance, and development of certain levels of their website. ENMU faculty or staff may request directory access for the unit that they are charged with updating. Fill out the access request online. When these requests are received, the Webmaster will contact the area executive administrator, who must approve all requests for directory access. Once approval is given, directory access will be set up and the staff member will receive an email confirmation, with a directory password.

At that point, pages in that directory can be changed or added, so long as the changes comply with the web policies. Informational workshops will be offered about how to use webpage templates and comply with web policies. If there are any questions about this process, please contact webmaster@enmu.edu.
