TAKES SPRING BREAK--The

ANNOUNCEMENTS SHOULD HAVE ENMU CONNECTION--Announcements submitted to the Monday Memo should have an ENMU connection, and can only be run for off-campus groups that are non-profit.
MONDAY MEMO DEADLINE--The deadline for submissions to the Monday Memo is noon on the Thursday prior to the Monday publication. Submissions may be sent via e-mail to monday.memo@enmu.edu. On-line email forms may also be used from the Monday Memo web address at /about/mmemo/index.html.
POLICY FOR CLASSIFIEDS--Only the University community (current and retired employees, and current students) may run classified ads in the Monday Memo. Please email ads to monday.memo@enmu.edu. They will run for two weeks.
AUTHORIZED ABSENCES CAN BE SUBMITTED ON-LINE--Those submitting Authorized Absence forms are encouraged to submit them on-line by clicking onto the form at the electronic Monday Memo site. The forms will be sent electronically to Student Affairs, then forwarded upon approval to the Monday Memo.
TIAA CREF REPRESENTATIVE ON CAMPUS--TIAA CREF representative Stephanie Mishak will be available in the Slone Room, SAS 190, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. ENMU-ROSWELL SCHEDULES SPRING BREAK--Students and faculty at ENMU-Roswell will take some time off from classes the last week of March. Spring Break will run from Sunday, March 24 through Sunday, March 31. All main campus offices, including the bookstore, student computer lab, and the library, will remain open. However, from Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. GED testing, LaserGrade testing and computer-based testing will not be conducted during this week. Placement tests will be conducted during Spring Break week (March 25-29) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The campus will be closed March 30-31. Classes will resume Monday, April 1. COMMUNITY ADVISORY COUNCIL TO MEET--The Community Advisory Council of ENMU-Roswell will meet Thursday, April 11 at 4 p.m. in the Campus Union Building Multipurpose Room. The Community Advisory Council meets once a month on the ENMU-Roswell campus during the academic year. For more information, contact Donna Gutierrez at 624-7403.
ASSESSMENT DAY SET FOR APRIL 3--Faculty will meet in the CUB Ballroom for breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by brief remarks from the Assessment Resource Office and the Assessment Committee. Department meetings will begin no later than 9:30 a.m. Departments will be expected to remain in the CUB Ballroom for their meetings. The Assessment Resource Office and Assessment Committee members will be available for consultation.
TRAVEL/STUDY OPPORTUNITY TO GHANA--How would you like to have the opportunity to undertake first-hand study of the history and culture of the West African culture of Ghana? Participants will have an extended village stay where they will study one or more aspects of the Ghanaian culture. The study group will explore markets, cultural centers, monuments of Ghana, etc. The study trip will be offered May 20-31. If interested, please contact Dr. Caryl Johnson at ext. 2516.
BOARD OF REGENTS SETS MEETING--There will be a Board of Regents will meet Wednesday, March 27, at 10:30 a.m. in the Regents' Room. This will combine the previously scheduled March 8 and April 12 meetings.
STUDENT INSURANCE CARDS AVAILABLE--Students who are enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Program who are not employed by the University may pick up their insurance cards from Rhonda Garcia in the SAS Building Room 194. AN EVENING OF MUSIC FOR CLARINET SET--Tamara Raatz will present "An Evening of Music for Clarinet" at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building. She will be assisted by David Fleming on piano and Randall Luster on clarinet. Admission is free.
ENMU EMPLOYEES INVITED TO BUY ROSES--The 14th Annual Rose-Day Sale sponsored by the Curry County, Cannon AFB, and Roosevelt County Red Cross has long-stemmed red roses for sale for $20.00 per dozen delivered and $15.00 per dozen if you pick them up. NEA ORGANIZATION SETS MEETING--The student NEA organization will meet at noon, March 12 in Ground Zero. If you are majoring in Elementary Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Education or working towards Secondary Certification, then this is the meeting for you! See you there! PROPOSAL FORMS FOR RESEARCH GRANTS AVAILABLE--Proposal forms and criteria for research grants for faculty are available in Quay Hall, Room 115. Grants are provided for tenure-track faculty with terminal degrees. Proposals are due in the Grant and Contract Management Office no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, April 5. EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING SESSIONS SCHEDULED--The Personnel and Safety offices and the University Post Office invite University employees to Emergency Response Training. This training session will address biological and weather-related hazards, explosives and fire. Dr. Dann Brown will also speak about anthrax in our daily lives. Two sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Becky Sharp Auditorium, COB Rm. #104. ENMU OFFERS MID-SEMESTER COURSE ON POLITICAL ISSUES--"Current Political Issues," a six-week political science course instructed by Dr. Sue Strickler, associate professor of political science, will begin on March 12. The mid-semester course will address contemporary political issues in the United States and the world as a whole, such as democracy, hate speech, separation of church and state, reasonable grounds for going to war, and terrorism. The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-7 p.m. in the Jack Williamson Liberal Arts Building. For more information, call Dr. Strickler at ext. 2509.
FRANKLINCOVEY WORKSHOP SET FOR MARCH 14-- Jane Knight will present an all-day FranklinCovey Workshop "What Matters Most" on March 14. What Matters Most is a new time management workshop for the entire business of living, not just the demands of eight to five. What Matters Most helps you focus your time, energy, and resources on the things that are to you most important. The fee for this workshop is $150 per person which will include the workshop and planner. There are only 15 spaces available. AWARD CALL FOR NOMINATIONS--Nominations are being
sought from any employee or student for the 2002 President's Spirit
of Eastern Awards and the Chester Haughawaut Exemplary Human Relations
Award. The awards are to identify faculty, professional and support
staff members whose contributions to ENMU are superior. The deadline
date for submitting nominations is March 22. Nomination forms listing
the selection criteria may be obtained from the President's Office,
the Administration Building Information Center, Roswell Administrative

WORKSHOP ON COOKING FOR THOSE WITH DIABETES SET-The Cooperative Extension Service, in cooperation with NMSU, is offering a series of cooking classes for people with diabetes and their family members or caretakers. Sessions are from 6-9 p.m. on March 18 and 25 and April 1 and 8 in ENMU's Family and Consumer Sciences Building.
