Auditor Bill Jones Headed to ENMU-Roswell

ROSWELL Dr. Judy Armstrong, provost of Eastern New Mexico
University-Roswell, has announced the selection of Bill Jones as the
new dean of Administrative Services on campus.
Jones is currently the internal auditor for Eastern New Mexico University
in Portales. He will be responsible for the business/financial/purchasing
operations of the campus, in addition to the physical plant, bookstore,
security, and food service operations. Jones will start his new position
on June 10. [more]

Mick Hoffman, client support specialist for Computer Services
at Eastern New Mexico University, has designed a "Computer Care"
web page to keep employees up-to-date on the latest viruses and hoaxes.
The web page, at http://www.enmu.edu/webcare/index.htm,
contains information on the latest in virus warnings, hoaxes, updates
to virus software, and features the "Hoax of the Week."
The site also includes information on the care and cleaning
of computers, dial-up connections, applications such as Internet Explorer,
Netscape, e-mail programs, and shareware and freeware software programs.

University Printing Services'
Addressing System Up and Running

University Printing Services now has its addressing system
up and operating. Presently, printing has addressed 12 mailings for
the campus with the help of Rena Garrett and the University Post Office.
They are now prepared to offer their services to all campus departments
interested in bulk mailings. It is estimated that the system has saved
departments as much as 20 percent on their postage cost so far. This
will be even more important in the near future because of the eight
percent postage increase scheduled to take place on June 30. [more]

Montoya Appointed Regional Director
for Women's Organization

Nadine A. Montoya,
Administrative Computing Systems Manager at ENMU-Roswell, has been appointed
Region VI Director for the American Association for Women in Community
Colleges (AAWCC). Montoya will begin her two-year term on July 1.
As Regional Director, Nadine will perform a number of duties, such as
promoting AAWCC chapter development, organizing a regional meeting,
and developing a newsletter. She will meet twice a year with the AAWCC
Board of Directors to exchange ideas and receive assistance. Nadine
will also help determine the direction the national organization will

Four ENMU-Ruidoso Students Complete
Building Trades Training

Four ENMU-Ruidoso students have completed the areas
first year-long building trades training program offered jointly by
ENMU and the Lincoln County Home Builders Association. Students completing
the program are Leola Montes, Johnny Vazquez, Anthony Garcia and Wesley
Kern.
Graduates earned a certificate of occupational competency in framing,
foundation and footings, construction math, blue print reading, and
interior/exterior finishes skills. The program completed a 1490-square-foot-site-built
home in Rancho Ruidoso Valley Estates under the direction of instructor
John Kluthe. Building materials and subcontracted services were purchased
from Lincoln County material suppliers and contractors. [more]
ENMU Staffers and Graduate Win
Press Awards
Two
Eastern New Mexico University staff members and an ENMU alumna won several
awards at the New Mexico Press Women State Conference in Albuquerque
on Saturday, May 18.
Carolyn Edwards, University editor, won first and second places in the
category of Magazines for separate issues of Eastern
Magazine, and first and second in Direct Mail Marketing
for Friends of Eastern Foundation barbecue and breakfast invitations,

ENMU to Host Youth Theatre

The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Theatre and Dance is
hosting their sixth annual Summer Youth Theatre and Dance Workshop from
1-4 p.m. on Monday-Friday, June 3-15.
The seminar provides children with the chance to experience live theatre
and dance. It will consist of four sessions: acting, taught by Daryl
Phillipy; dance, taught by Jill Pribyl; scenic and lighting design,
taught by Felipe Macias; and costume design, taught by John James Rutuelo.

CLOVIS FIREMEN PRESENT APPRECIATION PLAQUES
TO ENMU STAFF Clovis firemen recently presented appreciation
plaques to Dr. Mary Drabbs, assistant professor of health and
physical education at Eastern, and graduate student Floyd White
for designing a physical fitness program for the Clovis Fire Department.

for publication. Dr. Shaughnessy and Dr. Russell Eisenmann of

accepted for publication.
