the practice gyms at Greyhound Arena since the last century invites

basketball groupies today!"
ENMU

New Xeriscaping Class Being Taught by Dann
Brown Dr. Dann Brown is teaching a new two-hour-credit
xeriscaping class. Faculty and staff can register using their tuition
credit. For more information, contact Dr. Brown. (The following
was found on the Internet: "The term xeriscape is derived from
the Greek word xeros meaning dry, combined with landscaping, thus
xeriscaping. The term was coined by the Front Range Xeriscape Task
Force of the Denver Water Department in 1981. The goal of a xeriscape
is to create a visually attractive landscape that uses plants selected
for their water efficiency. Properly maintained, a xeriscape can
easily use less than one-half the water of a traditional landscape.
Once established, a xeriscape should require less maintenance than
turf landscape.)
Catering Request Form Here Find the link to the
new ENMU/Sodexho catering request form at http://www.enmu.edu/facultystaff/forms/dining_request.pdf.
This form replaces any prior versions and should be used for all
campus catering/dining requests.
For Maximum Attendance for Your Event,
Check University Calendar First To maximize attendance
at your Eastern event, you may want to check the University calendar
before deciding on a date. This will assist you in picking a date
in which there are not a lot of competing events. To find the calendar,
go to ENMU's home page (www.enmu.edu),
click on "Calendar" on the right-hand top corner, then
click on arrows to the desired month. You can submit your additions
for the on-line University Calendar via e-mail at calendar@enmu.edu.
F or any questions or problems regarding this process, please
direct correspondence to
betsy.chavez@enmu.edu or call 562.2134.
Dr.
Sherrie Bettenhausen Passes Away Dr. Sherrie Bettenhausen
passed away after a long battle with cancer. Sherrie taught in ENMU's
Special Education program for several years. Eastern's thoughts
go out to Sherrie's family during this difficult time.
Golf Scramble Tournament The Department of Intramurals
and Recreational Sports is kicking off its fall semester activities
with a Golf Scramble Tournament (ENMU-Cannon Open). The Four-person
Scramble will be held at the Whispering Winds Golf Course on Cannon
Air Force Base, on Sunday, Sept. 7. The first tee-off time will
be 1 p.m. The tournament is open to anyone; entries are not limited
to ENMU students, faculty or staff. The cost for civilians is $19.50:
this includes cart and green fees. Everyone is encouraged to use
a cart to help speed up play. If you're Military personnel fees
will probably be less.
Prizes will be given to 1st and 2nd places. We'll also provide hot
dogs, chili dogs and sodas for all participants. Sign up now!
One team representative must go to the mandatory meeting on Sept.
4, at 6 p.m. in GA 14. Extremely Important: We apologize for the
late notification, but we could not advertise the tournament until
it was approved by the CAFB Commander; and it was approved yesterday.
Because the tournament is held on a U.S Military Installation, security
is a very important and serious issue. If all members on your team
are civilians (not active military duty, not military retired, not
a military dependent, or an employee of CAFB), then you'll need
to have your entry to me no later than 11 a.m., Tuesday, August
26. Your entry must have full names of all players, social security
numbers and birthdates. This is a CAFB policy and your cooperation
is important or you'll be denied entrance on to the base. If at
least one member of your team is a U.S military personnel (active
duty, retired, dependent or an employee at CAFB), your entry isn't
due until Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m., which is also the entry deadline.
Your roster will only require team names and two contact phone numbers.
The team member with the military base privileges can sponsor or
sign-on the rest of the team, upon arrival at one of the two entrances
to CAFB. We apologize for the process that you must endure to gain
access to CAFB, but they are Department of Defense policies and
we all have to comply. The minor inconvenience is very much worth
it, because Whispering Winds Golf Course is the best place to play
around this area and plus you'll have lots of fun. E-mail your entries
to Inosia.Poyer@enmu.edu
or pick up an entry form at the CUB Information Desk, MaxPAC in
the Greyhound Arena or our office at Greyhound Arena Room 14. Call
Sia Poyer at 2739 or 2297 for more information.

at 4490 by Friday, Aug. 22. Please keep in mind each license is
