Thank You from the Family of Eric Hodgest – First and foremost, Eric Hodgestwe would like to thank the entire Eastern New Mexico University Family, as that is what you were to Eric. He truly loved being a student at Eastern, and he took great pride in being a "Greyhound". To Coach Elliott, the Coaching Staff, and the members of the "Greyhound" Football Team, thanks for being Eric's family while he was away from home. He took great pride in being a "Greyhound", and he looked forward to wearing the green and silver.

Although he will be greatly missed, he left a piece of himself with all of us. We would also like to give a special thanks to Brian Wesley, Roderick Chambers, and Malala Tai, as you young men helped Eric reach his final destination, and we truly love and thank you for that.

Again, we thank Eastern New Mexico University, as ENMU exemplifies the true meaning of what an institution of higher learning should be! We will forever love the "Greyhounds" of Eastern New Mexico University!

(Deuteronomy 30:19)

We Love You Eric,
The Hodgest Family

Campus Closed on January 2 – The Portales campus will remain closed on Jan. 2, 2004, which is the Friday immediately following the winter break. The current approved holiday schedule for the break allows us to close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23 and reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2. During this time, the heating in buildings will be in conservation mode and the override function will be disabled. We are doing this to reduce our energy costs.

Although we are encouraging people to take Friday, Jan. 2 off on vacation leave, it is not mandatory. All staff who wish to work on that day will report to Golden Library where alternate work assignments will be given. Arrangements will be made for individuals who want to take the day off but are within their first 3 months of employment or who do not have one day of vacation leave accrued.

The university will automatically deduct 8 hours of vacation (or the equivalent of one work day for part-time people) from all employees' accrued leave unless they inform their supervisors that they wish to work on Jan. 2. This notification will need to be made by Dec. 10. Please note that if you do not notify your supervisor of your intent to work on January 2nd, the appropriate vacation deduction will be automatically done - no paperwork will be required.
