Are Your Legal Affairs in Order? – With the everyday stresses that we all cope with, sometimes it's hard to think ahead regarding the "What If?" types of scenarios. But we usually find that the time invested "up front" can eliminate many headaches "down the road." Such is the matter of having your legal affairs in order. It can make difficult situations easier to cope with, for you as well as your loved ones. Good legal "health" eliminates many of the most emotionally draining legal problems, which commonly occur. Over and over again, these problems surface as a result of a crisis, often a sudden illness or death. At the worst possible time it is discovered that no one has the authority to act for their stricken loved one, or no one can find important information required to apply for a needed benefit or to begin helping a grieving widow or widower to settle the affairs of a deceased spouse. To help you become "legally healthy," the Roosevelt County Extension Office is sponsoring the Legal Checkup program, at the NM Ag Expo, Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. at the Jake Lopez Building, Roosevelt Co. Fairgrounds. Attorney Kathleen Haynes will present a program on Estate Planning. Legal Checkup booklets will be available. For more information, call Connie Moyers, Roosevelt Co. Extension Home Economist, at 356.4417.

Kitchen Creations offers recipes and up-to-date information for nutrition and meal planning. People with diabetes, as well as their family members or caretakers, are encouraged to attend.

Three separate classes will be conducted:
" Tuesdays for four weeks beginning March 9, 2-5 p.m. at the Curry County Extension Office, 818 Main, Clovis
" Mondays for four weeks beginning March 29, 6-9 p.m. at ENMU Family and Consumer Science Building, Portales
Call Glenda Belcher, Curry Co. Extension Home Economist at 763.6505 to register for Clovis classes and Connie Moyers, Roosevelt Co. Extension Home Economist at 356.4417 to register for Portales class.
