ENMU-Roswell Security
to Receive AED In an effort to enhance emergency
preparedness resources on campus, the security staff at ENMU-Roswell
will soon have a dedicated Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
to use in the event of a cardiac emergency. The AED will be placed
in a campus police car on Monday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. in front of
the Student Services Center. The campus safety team will also be
present for the event. Late last year, ENMU-Roswell purchased an
AED for campus use and several staff members, including Security
Chief Ernie Williamson, have received training in CPR and in the
use of the AED in a sudden cardiac arrest situation. Incidents have
shown that the use of an AED in the hands of a trained layperson
can mean the difference between life and death. The EMS program
at ENMU-Roswell is providing AED training through the American Heart
Association. For more information on the AED's, the Public Access
Defibrillation program or any American Heart Association courses,
call 624.7249.
