ENMU-Roswell Holds Special Services Graduation – The Roswell Program Manager for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Terri Douglass, will be the featured speaker at the Special Services Occupational Training Program’s Seventeenth Annual Graduation ceremony on Thursday, July 29. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on campus.

About 50 students will graduate from the program in a number of areas, including auto mechanics, child care, office skills, nursing assistant and food service. Two graduating students, Jerramy Wilber and Michael Waters, will also speak during the ceremony. Wilber is graduating from the Auto Mechanics Program and is currently enrolled in the Auto Body Program. Waters is graduating from the Food Service Program and previously graduated from the Office Skills Program. Following graduation, Waters will be returning to his hometown, Denver, Colorado.

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony.

Established seventeen years ago, the Special Services program attracts students with disabilities from all across the country, training them in a number of occupational areas. Students are also provided with various adaptive equipment and other services on campus to help them reach their academic goals. After graduation, most students are able to find employment and live independently.

Clarification About Taxes on Tuition Waivers – Several employees who have a bachelor's degree have expressed a desire to sign up for a Wellness course under the tuition waiver but are turned off by the misunderstanding they have to pay taxes on the tuition waiver. Please be advised that this is no longer true due to a new admission category established over a year ago – post-baccalaureate admission. Anyone with a bachelor's degree who wants to enroll only in undergraduate courses will be admitted under post-baccalaureate admission. You will not be taxed for any tuition waiver for an undergraduate class. Also, if you are paying for an undergraduate course, you will be charged at the undergraduate, not the graduate, rate.

But please note that no one in this category can take a graduate course. If you want to take a graduate course, you have to receive graduate admission. You will be charged graduate rates for all of your courses, including undergraduate courses, and any tuition waiver will be taxable.

TechTips – Helpful Hints for using ENMU Technology (courtesy of ITS Computing)

Computing
Hot-Key Henry tip for today (Ctrl key series): While in the Office applications, have you ever wanted to quickly open a document? To quickly display the “Open” document window, press and hold down the Ctrl key, then press the O key (Ctrl-O). Then choose the document you want to open.

Hot Key tip for today (Outlook series): A few weeks back we learned how to reply to a message we had read by using the Ctrl-R key. This hot-key does have a limitation though, it will only replay back to the person who sent you the message. In order to reply back to “all” names that are listed in the email message (From, To, Cc), you need to use the “Reply All” hot-key. To do this, press and hold down the Ctrl key and Shift key, then press the R key (Ctrl-Shift-R). This will place your window in reply all mode where you can type your reply. After typing the message, do not forget to use the hot-key you learned, Ctrl-Enter. This will send the reply all email message on its way.

Telephony
Voice Mail Etiquette:
• Voice mail should never take the place of answering the phone while you are at your desk.
• Personal greetings should be professional, short and to the point.
• Check messages regularly.
• Only save important messages.
• Purge saved messages periodically

If you have a tip you would like to share with us please send it to: ENMU.TechTips@enmu.edu
