TechTips – Helpful Hints for using ENMU Technology (courtesy of ITS Computing)

Computing
Hot-Key Henry tip for today (Ctrl key series): While in an application (such as Word), have you ever deleted some text or made a format change that you did not want? Well there is a hot-key to come to your rescue. To "Undo" what you did, press and hold down the Ctrl key, then press the Z key (Ctrl-Z). To repeat the "Undo" function, keep pressing the Z key (while holding down the Ctrl key) until you undo everything you want undone.

USB Flash Drives are a good way to temporarily store your documents or move from one computer to another. This technology is pretty neat as it is about the size of a pack of gum but yet it can save large amounts of data and access is fast. The capacity of the drives ranges from 16MB (cost ~$20.00) to 1GB (cost ~$400.00). To access the flash drive, just simply plug it into a USB port on your computer. The newer computers have a USB port located in the front of the CPU unit for easy access. Older systems have the USB ports located in the back of the CPU unit. In this case, you can purchase a short pigtail USB cable allowing easy access. As with floppy disks and CDs, you must provide the utmost care when using the flash drives. Once you plug the drive into your computer, it tends to stick out and can be easily broken off.

Telephony
Call Pick-up: This feature allows you to answer other telephones in your office as long as they are all on the same "Pick-up Group".

To pick up another ringing extension: Pick up your handset and dial 77.

For questions or help with dialing instructions, programming, or setting up voice mail, call Linda Hamrick at extension 2287.

If you have a tip you would like to share with us please send it to: ENMU.TechTips@enmu.edu.
