ENMU Announces Web-Based MBA Courses – The Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) College of Business (COB) has announced web-based courses for their Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. Dr. Lee Weyant, MBA program coordinator, said that several graduate level business courses will be offered online during the summer session. According to Weyant, “The online MBA courses offer students flexibility in terms of scheduling classes with other obligations.” The COB has been using the Internet to enhance the educational experience of the ENMU MBA student for several years. “Using the Internet to deliver courses is a natural extension of our distance education expertise,” said Weyant. “The long-range goal is to offer the entire MBA on the web, but for now we will focus on specific courses,” added Weyant. The COB will offer several online graduate courses during the summer semester, June 7 through July 30. Students may enroll in the managerial research course if they earned an undergraduate degree including successful completion of a statistics course. Students without an undergraduate business degree may enroll in a series of one-credit web-based foundation courses in management, marketing, accounting, economics, and finance. Individuals interested in these web-based courses or the ENMU MBA should contact Weyant at 505.562.2342 or Lee.weyant@enmu.edu.

Aviation Maintenance Technician Day Set at ENMU-Roswell – The New Mexico State Legislature has declared Monday, May 24 as Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Day in New Mexico. The AMT program at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell will celebrate the day with a special ceremony at Pioneer Plaza at 11 a.m. Roswell Mayor, Bill Owen will read a proclamation honoring the life and memory of Charles E. Taylor, the world’s first airplane mechanic and declaring May 24 as AMT Day in Roswell. The public is invited to attend.

Taylor worked as the mechanic for Orville and Wilbur Wright, and hand built the engine used by the Wright brothers when they successfully flew the first controlled powered airplane at Kitty Hawk in 1903. That successful flight allowed the Wright brothers to become historical icons. Few, however, know about the great contributions of Taylor, the first aviation mechanic. For this reason, Charles E. Taylor has been named the "Unsung Hero of Aviation".

“Through the efforts of State Representative, Avon Wilson, and the local legislative delegation, this is the first year that AMT Day will be recognized in New Mexico,” said Dusty Heritage, Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education at ENMU-Roswell. “Because we have such a successful and thriving AMT program, we believe this is a wonderful opportunity to draw attention to those individuals who have contributed to the maintenance of air travel—from the man who built the first engine for powered flight, to all aviation mechanics nationwide. This recognition is well deserved, because it is through the efforts of our graduates and other AMT’s that air travel is one of the safest modes of transportation today,” she said.
