ENMU Presenting 'Blithe Spirit' During Homecoming – Eastern New Mexico University will present “Blithe Spirit” during Homecoming activities. The curtain on the play by Sir Noel Coward will rise at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-9, in the University Theatre Center, Mainstage. Tickets are: $7 general admission, $6 senior citizens, $5 pre-college, and $4 ENMU students with current activities sticker.

The British playwright described his most popular play “Blithe Spirit" in 1941 as an “improbable farce in three acts” which only took six days to write. Dr. Anne Beck, director and assistant professor of theatre, says, “This play has a wide appeal with sophisticated humor and wit.” The play takes place in the living room of successful novelist Charles Condomine, played by John Moore, ENMU senior theatre major, and his wife, Ruth, played by ENMU student Heather Maez. The Condomines have invited their friends, Dr. and Mrs. Bradman, to join them in a séance led by the village medium, Madam Arcati, played by Jennae Pinnell, ENMU theatre major with a minor in English, whose methods Charles will study for his new novel, “The Unseen.”

Ms. Pinnell says, “My character is an enthusiastic medium and an eccentric character. She believes in her profession and the quality of her work.” During the séance Charles’ first wife, Elvira, who died tragically young, materializes, seen and heard only by Charles. Chaos ensues until Madame Arcati, summoned again, makes Elvira disappear. “Charles is a very witty character, sometimes irrelevant, but well spoken with much intelligence. The women in his life push him around, with the Madame as no exception, but he refuses to believe he is dominated by these women in his life,” says Mr. Moore.

A delightful comedy of manners replete with Coward's wit, the play is suitable for a general audience. For more information, call 505.562.2711.

What is the Medical Leave Bank?

The medical leave bank is a pool of hours to which any regular employee who earns medical and/or annual leave may donate some of their accumulated leave hours. TechTips – Helpful Hints for using ENMU Technology (courtesy of ITS Computing)

Computing
Managing Your Recycle Bin – Last week, we looked at permanently deleting items from the Recycle Bin. What about situations where you may have deleted items/files and wanted to restore the items out of the Recycle Bin back to your hard drive? So to restore items from the Recycle Bin, back to where they came from, select the items concerned, right-click the selection, and click Restore. This procedure has been a lifesaver at times.

Outlook series – Change Your Calendar View in Two Keystrokes
Are you getting tired of clicking back and fourth on dates on your calendar? Well now you can see any number of consecutive days from one to ten days at the same time. Press ALT and any number between one and 10. The number determines how many days will be displayed, starting from the current date. So, for instance, to see an eight-day span, just press ALT+8. For this tip to work, you must use the number keys on the keyboard, not the numeric keypad.

DAT file version update – To check that your computer is up-to-date with the most current versions of virusscan software, locate the blue and white shield with a red “V” in it by your system clock on the bottom right side of your screen and click on it with the right mouse button. Then choose “About VirusScan Enterprise” in the pull-down box. There are two things to look for; one is the “Virus Definitions” which should be at 4394 and the other is the “Scan Engine” which should be at 4.3.20. If either one is not displaying the above versions, please contact the Helpdesk at 562.4357 for assistance.
