ENMU Offers In-State Tuition Rates for Texas Nurses

All nurses with associate degrees who live with 135 miles of Eastern New Mexico University, or are taking six or fewer hours, can earn Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees by taking online courses from ENMU at New Mexico in-state tuition rates.

The BSN Completion Program is available to associate degree registered nurses and diploma RNs who take junior- and senior-level online courses from ENMU.

“It isn’t realistic these days to ask a nurse who has worked 50 hours a week to sit in a classroom another six hours every week.  So we transformed the program into a user-friendly online one, “said Dr. Leslie Paternoster, director of nursing.

The tuition waiver for Texas residents who live within 135 miles of ENMU means that nursing students will only pay $131.50 per credit hour.

Registered nurses may enroll at the beginning of any semester, summer, fall or spring.  The summer session begins June 2.

More information  about the degree can be found at www.enmu.edu/nursing, or by calling the nursing admissions office at 575.562.2833.

Ginger's Safety Tip of the Month

Plug into Precautions

Don't use an extension cord as if it were a permanent wire.  It should only be used temporarily.  Leaving it in place is a tipping hazard as well as a fire safety concern.  And when you need an extension cord, use one that's the right gauge for the equipment it's plugged into so it doesn't short out or overheat.

Don't abuse or misuse your electrical system and equipment.  Physical conditions of the workplace can cause deterioration.  For example, water may get into electrical components that aren't rated for wet conditions.  If you change a room or work area, be sure to check that the electrical system is compatible with the change.

This safety tip is brought to you by the Safety Office.  For all your safety needs, please contact the Safety Office at #2796.  Thank you and "Be safe out there."
