Prior to the start of that school year, Eastern held a picnic and today a group of students, with the help of the administration, is working to recreate that memory. The 1930s-themed picnic will include fried chicken, one of the most popular dishes of the day, and games, speakers, music and memories. “The picnic is an opportunity to be part of a historic event and for the school and the community to come together and celebrate,” said graduate student Bryan Hahn. The student committee is seeking musicians to play 1930s bluegrass or jazz, as well as classic cars to display. If interested, contact Hahn at 575.562.2778.
