ENMU Hosting Art Exhibit from May 11-14
by Robin Haislett
Communication Services

-Eastern New Mexico University will host the art exhibit “Blatant Disregard for Deadlines” in the Runnels Gallery of Golden Library from Monday, May 11, through the closing reception from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.  The show, free and open to the public, will be open during regular Library hours.

The show consists of the work of two students graduating with their bachelor degrees in fine arts. Randi Egley of Mountain View, Wyo., currently residing in Portales, and Damon Griffith of Portales are showcasing their own style of painting.

“Randi is more figurative in her painting while Damon is more politically inclined,” says Christopher Calderón, Runnels Gallery manager. “Egley likes to create foggy, tangled portraits that allow her work to relate to both sides of an issue. Griffith constructs argumentative compositions showing an alternative viewpoint in relation to social and political issues,” explains Mr. Calderón.

Every student earning a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) degree must put on a show for approximately five days. The show must have a consistent theme in either medium, style, subject matter or other artistic element. According to Calderón, there are 12 students graduating with a BFA this spring semester, some of whom held their show this fall.

For more information, contact Mr. Christopher Calderón at 562.2607 or e-mail albert.calderon@enmu.edu.
