Dr. Christopher Taylor has announced his intent to step down as dean of the College of Business effective May 31. Dr. Taylor, who has served as the interim and dean of the college since August 2010, cited his desire to return to the faculty. We are greatly appreciative of the leadership that Dr. Taylor has provided for the college over the last two years and wish him the best of luck in his return to the classroom.
The College of Business has had a long, proud tradition in preparing future business leaders for the region and state, and rest assured we aim to support the college in maintaining that tradition. A national search for the next dean of the College of Business will be initiated at the beginning of the Fall 2012 semester. In the interim, Dr. Gene Smith, Associate Professor of Accounting, has affirmed his willingness to serve as interim dean. Dr. Smith previously served as dean of the college from January, 2008 through June, 2010, and given this prior experience will help provide a smooth transition as we seek to identify and hire the future leader of the college.
