As a native of Brownwood, Texas, Draco grew up as a “normal kid in a two-parent home” and participated in many community service projects. He also took a major interest in sports, particularly football, which is his favorite. Draco became a big Nebraska Cornhusker fan and remains one to this day. He also has an older sister, and a younger sister who just graduated from high school.
Draco first came to ENMU as an undergraduate football player in 1999 and majored in education with a minor in health and physical education. Immediately after graduation, he continued his education at ENMU in 2004 as a graduate assistant majoring in health and physical education with an emphasis in sports administration, earning his master’s.

When asked what his impression of Portales and ENMU was, he reacted positively. “I love the community,” says Draco. “I expected to leave right after graduation, but look where I am now.”
Draco said that some of the most important moments of his life happened in Portales. It is where he met his wife, Deedy. They will celebrate their second anniversary on June 5. Portales is also where he had his daughter, Daija, who is nine months. She has already begun attending campus events, with her debut at the Student Leadership Banquet in April of this year.
In addition to football, Draco’s hobbies include landscaping and collecting Mafia movies and paraphernalia. One of his favorite Mafia possessions is his Godfather poster which he will put up in his office in the CUB.

Draco is very excited for this next chapter in his life. He says he is going to start thinking outside of the box for the students. His life philosophy is: “No Excuses, No Exceptions, Strive for Perfection.”
Draco is looking forward to applying this principle to this new position and to help all ENMU students have a more enjoyable college experience.
