Eastern New Mexico University offers many exciting experiences. Our Associated Student Activities Board and Student Senate put on programs for the entire school to enjoy. Below is a list of my favorite events that the school puts on.

  1. Homecoming Bonfire

Just about every university has a different way of celebrating homecoming week. ENMU puts on several events throughout the week leading up to the football game. My personal favorite is the bonfire. Students gather around a 20-foot flame while celebrating the week. The pep band performs several songs to excite the students. The atmosphere and school pride is unlike any other event I have been to while at ENMU.

  2. The Wagon Wheel Game

The Wagon Wheel football game is a rivalry between the ENMU Greyhounds and the Buffaloes of West Texas A&M. This game is usually the biggest game of the year for the Hounds. Each year, the stadium is packed on both sides. This is another event where school spirit shines. Eastern has won five out of the last six meetings.

  3. Up ‘Til Dawn

Have you ever wanted to have a ton of fun, help out those in need and stay up from dusk till dawn? If you said yes, then this is the event for you. ENMU puts on this event annually to help raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During the affair students participate in games, get snacks, and even get to meet a child who has been helped by the hospital. It is an exciting time for a great cause.

  4. Eastern in Action

This event is one of the occasions where students have a chance to give back to the community. During the happening, groups of students are assigned different community service opportunities. Whether it be cleaning up a park or painting, the ENMU pupils have the chance to impact the community for good.

  5. Mud Volleyball

At the end of a school year, students are stressed. Final projects and tests can cause students to forget to take care of themselves. Mud volleyball creates a wonderful chance to escape. Students are treated to fresh air, friendly competition, and a free mud bath. The event starts early in the morning and runs throughout the whole day. It always seems to be a favorite event at ENMU.
