Greyhounds Welcome Back a Familiar Face

Greyhounds Welcome Back a Familiar Face

Greyhound football welcomes back coach Andrew McCraw.  He is a small-town guy who was born and raised in Lovington, New Mexico. In high school he played every sport possible, but was a true standout in football.

McCraw was a journeyman throughout college attending and playing football for New Mexico Highlands, New Mexico Military Institute and Eastern New Mexico University.

While at Eastern McCraw finished his undergrad degree and his football career, but he wasn't done with Eastern. He decided to stay and complete his master's degree while being a graduate assistant for the football program.

While earning his master's, he found his passion for working with student athletes.

That passion turned into the goal of wanting to coach football professionally, and he got the chance at Socorro High School when he was hired last April. In his first season he started out with a bang, going 6-0 in the first half of the season, and reaching the playoffs with a running attack that emulated "the triple-option from his days with Eastern," he said.

His time as a head coach was cut short due to the opportunity at Eastern.

McCraw and Lee have known and worked with each other since their time at New Mexico Military Institute.

McCraw played for Kelly Lee's dad in an all-star game when he was a student at Lovington High School.

Lee has taught McCraw "everything I know about the Greyhound offense and Eastern holds a special place in my heart."
