ENMU is a place where professors and students can come together as one to mold into a well-rounded educational university. For Dr. Yoon, this is his chance to strengthen the community bond.

Born and raised in South Korea, Dr. Yoon grew up with few resources. Compared to America, there was a big cultural difference and a constant pull of competiveness from those he grew up with; however, Dr. Yoon, unfazed, was ready to take his chances in the United States.

In 2009 at the University of Florida (UF), Dr. Yoon began his journey as an American student. As a Gator, he found his calling in sports management. By the end of his collegiate student career, he received a Ph.D. in sports management.

Although college was indeed a place of learning, the need for a family was also on his horizon. After 10 years of dating the love of his life, he finally found the courage to marry her. Both natives of South Korea and alumni of UF, Mr. and Mrs. Yoon were ready to begin their lives together. Little did they know, they would soon have a young one to give their love to.

Now 4, Dr. Yoon's daughter has become one of the two most important people in his life. Although growing up, Dr. Yoon was often found with a tennis racket or a basketball, he is has agreeably "traded them for Barbies, puzzles and princess acting."

Though the hours of constant play with his daughter has and always will keep him content, the need to keep learning and teaching is a priority.

Although he had many successful years in Florida, it was time "to see what else awaited" him. With a Ph.D. and a hunger for success, Dr. Yoon left behind the warm waters of Florida to seek a new career in the dirt plains of Portales.

With great pride, ENMU took hold of this eager professor and introduced him as the new assistant professor of sports management. It is within this new title that Dr. Yoon has had the opportunity to share his knowledge and research on the business world of sports.

Although his ultimate goal is to teach to the best of his abilities, he hopes that his time in Portales will also bring happiness to his family. With "the calm and kind hearts of the Portales community," Dr. Yoon is ready to join the Eastern New Mexico University family.
