From that point on, the Greyhound dominated, en-route to a record-setting 11-0 victory on Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium.
"Because of the drought, it was a little stressful at first, but after the first one our confidence shot up," said Head Coach Omar Morales. "This is definitely good going into conference."
The win improved ENMU to 4-3 in the series against the Mustangs, with a 3-1 record at home. Eastern had previously scored seven goals on two occasions against USW. The first came on September 7, 2007, and again exactly three years later.
The Turning Point
- Courtney Pittman scored the team's first goal of the season on her own corner kick, 14:44 into the game
- The half closed with two goals from Mirka Zamarripa, and individual goals from Valeria Jaramillo, Anniah Galdean, Tori Hendrickson and Janet Ponce
- Hendrickson found the back of the net a second time, 21:46 into the second half, to give ENMU their record-setting eighth goal of the game

- The Hounds held a 46-0 lead in total shots and recorded the third-highest total in team history
- ENMU had 22 shots on goal
- Eastern's eight assists was a team record (Vanessa Gallegos, Sonny Narvais, Valeria Jaramillo, Fairbanks, Galdean, Zamarripa, Jenna Sievers, and Pittman)

- Eastern registered its second shutout of the season
The Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team will return to action on Friday, Sept. 23, to open Lone Star Conference play at Texas A&M-Commerce. The game is scheduled for at 6 p.m. MT.
