Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will host guest flutist Chih-Hsien Chien for a master class and performance. Chien’s master class will be held Sunday, Oct. 26 from 2–4 P.M. in the Zia Room of the Campus Union Building. Chien’s solo recital featuring Dr. Lindsey Beasley will be held Monday, Oct. 27 at the First United Methodist Church at 7 P.M.
Chien is a freelance musician and member of the Los Angeles Flute Orchestra. She has played professionally with the National Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra. Chien has won multiple awards and competitions including the National Flute Competition in Taiwan, the Tom Harris Award, the Mark Hindsley Award and the A. A. Harding award.
