PORTALES—Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will conduct an emergency planning drill on Friday, Aug. 7, from approximately 8-11 a.m. (it may end sooner). The drill will involve Portales and campus police trying to apprehend an actor portraying a shooter in the Campus Union Building.
Lea Hall, the College of Business and the Campus Union Building will be locked down during the drill, and all people in those buildings will be "sheltered in place." No one will be allowed to enter or leave those buildings or areas during the drill.
This is the first in a series of exercises that ENMU has planned for the 2009-10 school year to practice emergency procedures with simulations, test emergency alerts, and educate students and employees on emergency procedures.
