PORTALES—The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the new Communication Center at Eastern New Mexico University will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, in front of the new building.  There will also be a KENW Dedication Banquet at 6:30 p.m. that evening. The cost of the banquet, which will be in Studio A of the Communication Center, will be $17 per person.

Dr. Steven Gamble, president of Eastern, Duane Ryan, director of broadcasting, and Dr. Jay Gurley, vice president of the Board of Regents, will be the honorees at the ribbon cutting.

Everyone is invited to attend, have refreshments, and take a tour of the new facility.

The emcees for banquet are former students Loren Nancarrow and Sharron Melton.  There will be a video presentation of the preview of fall PBS shows and a video tribute to the late Ernie Mills, former host of "Report from Santa Fe."  In addition, there will be a special recognition to all the construction workers who built the facility.  Clifford the Big Red Dog will be at the banquet to entertain children.

Ryan said, "It gives us an opportunity to publicly thank those responsible for the building of the new Communication Center.  We also want to thank legislators who voted to put the building on their priority list for the G.O. Bond, and those citizens who voted for the bond approval.

Sheryl Borden, host of "Creative Living" and event organizer, said that the new Communication Center was a "great recruiting tool for Eastern.  The ribbon cutting and banquet will make the community aware of this new state-of-the-art facility that moves us from analog to digital technology."
