PORTALES--Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will host the art show “Acts of Volition” in Golden Library’s Runnels Gallery from Monday, Nov. 30 through Thursday, Dec. 3. A closing reception will be from 5-7 p.m. on Dec. 3.
The themed show, according to Christopher Calderón, Runnels Gallery manager, is how we use art to cope. “What is a ‘problem,’ what is ‘personal experience,’ and how do we use art to express this?” asks Calderón.
Nine student artists will display at least two pieces and one artist will create his own artistic “environment” in a section of the room. The 25 pieces and one “environment” round out the collection of paintings and mixed-media projects.
The participating artists are Matthew L. Beard, Timothy N. Bomar, Lenore D. Dunn, Christopher R. Jaynes, Kary L. Mathys, Elijah R. Nieto, Elizabeth A. Stoliker, Nancy L. Werner and Amanda M. Zopfi.
The exhibit is free and open to the public, and will be open during regular hours (1-800-450-7279 or 562-2624 locally).
