PORTALES--Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will host its Dual-Campus Faculty Art Show from Friday, Jan. 29 – Wednesday, Feb. 13. at the Runnels Gallery in Golden Library. An opening reception will be held from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29.  The show features art from ENMU-Portales and ENMU-Roswell faculty.

ENMU opens a faculty exhibit open to all full-time, part-time and adjunct art teachers in the ENMU system every other year.

Portales campus faculty featured are: Mary Finneran, Greg Erf, Lisa Gabriel, Catherine Jennings, Mic Muhlbauer, Greg Senn, Christopher Calderon, Diane Cole, Tim McGee, Jerry Holm and Minh Tran. Roswell faculty featured are: Jennie Bower and Barbara Posuniak.

Gallery manager Christopher Calderón says the artists have submitted two to three pieces each.

Calderón says he was always curious to see what the art instructors were interested in creating in their own time. “You have to teach art principles and keep it ‘tight’ in class, but this exhibit lets you see what your professors create out of class,” explains Calderón.

Unlike many of the student exhibits, Calderón says the instructors are fairly “purist” and do not use mixed media for their pieces. “The professors are experimenting with different media that they normally don’t use,” he says.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Calderón at 575-562-2607.
