PORTALES—Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will host a Town Hall Meeting for the New Mexico Department of Higher Education from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, in the Zia Room of the Campus Union Building. It is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
New Mexico Secretary of Higher Education Viola Florez and her staff will discuss the Master Plan for higher education in the state.
The plan is arranged as five “issue papers” discussing the fiscal aspects and important questions for each. The five issues are:
Issue One: Governance: The Absence of a System of Higher Education
Issue Two: Funding Mechanisms for Higher Education
Issue Three: Creating a Seamless Educational Environment
Issue Four: Ensuring Equitable College Access and Opportunity
Issue Five: Higher Education’s Role in Building a Strong New Mexico Economy
