PORTALES--The presidents of Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU), Dr. Steven Gamble, and Dona Ana Community College (DACC), Dr. Margie Huerta, will sign an articulation agreement between the two schools at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, in the Commons Area, "Main" Building, DACC Central Campus, 3400 S. Espina St. (adjacent to NMSU) in Las Cruces.
The agreement is designed to coordinate transfer policies, enhance advising and promote the acceptance of transfer courses/credit between ENMU-Portales and DACC to encourage the completion of a bachelor's degree for DACC students.
"We are pleased to partner with such a well-respected institution as Dona Ana Community College," said Dr. Gamble. "We believe that this agreement will provide a seamless transition for students from Dona Ana who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree to enhance their career prospects. We know that the students will be well-prepared when they arrive at ENMU, and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship between the two schools."
ENMU will accept applications from students who wish to transfer from DACC into any related baccalaureate program at ENMU. Transferring students must meet the same admission criteria as any other transfer students.
DACC students who graduated with an associate's degree, are applying to a related degree program at ENMU and have a DACC grade point average of at least 2.0 are guaranteed admission to ENMU.
DACC students who have completed or will complete an associate's degree by the time they enroll in classes at ENMU will be exempted from the ENMU application fee.
New Mexico residents will be charged tuition and fees at the prevailing ENMU in-state rate. Non-residents who register for six or fewer hours will also pay the in-state rate, as well as everyone attending during the summer.
