PORTALES--Eastern New Mexico University will host the Symphonic Band, Chamber Singers and University Singers in their annual Holiday Concert at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, on the Mainstage of the University Theatre Center on the Portales campus.
Jason Paulk, director of choral activities and assistant professor of music, will direct the Chamber Singers in their performance of “Duermete, Niño Lindo (New Mexican Carol)” with a solo by Nicole Keeling, arranged by Wayland Rogers, and “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre.
The University Singers will perform “Verbum caro factum est” by Hans Leo Hassler, “A Hymn to the Virgin,” “Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light” by Johann Sebastian Bach, “Heavenly Light” arranged by Peter J. Wilhousky and “The Christmas Song” by Mel Torme.
Dustin Seifert, chair of the music department and director of bands, will conduct the symphonic band as they perform “A Most Wonderful Christmas,” “Russian Christmas Music” and “Sleigh Ride.” “The Sussex Mummers Christmas Carol” will be conducted by student Megan Brunson.
A traditional Christmas sing-a-long is included for audience members to join with the performers as they play well-known Christmas songs.
The event is free and open to the public.
