PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University will host the Santa Fe Opera as they perform "Words and Music" at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, on the Mainstage of the University Theatre Center on the Portales campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Santa Fe Opera singers are touring 12 cities in New Mexico and Texas this spring, offering 22 performances for school children along with nine free public concerts. An average of 18,000 audience members enjoy the Spring Opera Tour each year.
This year's performances include "Words and Music" which explores the relationship of words and music in creating an opera. Recent Santa Fe Opera apprentices, soprano Ashley Logan and bass-baritone Alan Dunbar, are the featured singers in this year's concerts.
