(L-R) Elwood G. (Woody) Farber, president of New Mexico Student Loans, recently made his annual trip to Portales to present Dr. Steven Gamble, president of Eastern New Mexico University, two checks totaling $4,263 to assist with scholarships. New Mexico Student Loans established scholarships at all the state school and colleges several years ago and continue to enhance these scholarships. In addition to these scholarships, the New Mexico Student Loans forgave $4.45 million in college student loans in 2006 benefiting more than 1,000 borrowers. "New Mexico Student Loans is committed to helping all New Mexicans pay for postsecondary education," said Farber. "College graduates are crucial to the economic development of our state."
