ENMU Hosting ‘Technology of Prehistoric New Mexico’

PORTALES—The Blackwater Draw National Landmark, operated by eastern New Mexico University in Portales, is hosting “Technology of Prehistoric New Mexico” on Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26 at Blackwater Draw, six miles north of Portales on Highway 467 (one mile north of Oasis State Park).  The public is invited free of charge.

Activities include pottery demonstrations, cooking, hide-working, flint-knapping, Yucca sandal-making, atlatl throwing and many other traditional skills.

The site will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the demonstrations running from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
