PORTALES — The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Theatre will present its 2011 Homecoming production and scholarship event, Hollywood Hound Bound, on Oct. 6-8 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. on the Mainstage of the University Theatre Center.

This family-friendly show features a large ensemble cast made up of students from freshmen to graduate level; this original production is written, directed and choreographed by Eastern graduate Bryan Hahn and professor of theatre Janeice Scarbrough.

"It has been such a pleasure working with this cast of actors and dancers," said Hahn. "There is something truly splendid when such a diverse group of people, individuals from so many different studies across campus, come together in a collaborative process. Each member of the cast has added something personally unique to the production."

The show will be presented in conjunction with this year's homecoming celebration and Hollywood theme, and its comedic plot, complete with dance numbers set to popular music, is centered on the legend of how ENMU choose its greyhound mascot. "Last year Bryan and I collaborated on Zombie Circus Extravaganza for homecoming," said Scarbrough. "It was so much fun and well received. How many universities have a play written just for their homecoming weekend? Not many, I venture to say."

For the first time, all ENMU students will be admitted free with their current ENMU student ID, and general admission for all others is $5. This show will serve as the season's scholarship production, and a portion of ticket sales will go towards theatre scholarships.

"We look forward to seeing more ENMU students attend our shows due to the free admission," said Anne Beck, chair of the Department of Theatre and Professor of Theatre. "I know, too that our loyal supporters will be delighted to know that a portion of their ticket price will go to theatre scholarships."

Baldwin of Albuquerque; Alex Campbell of Hobbs; Jazmin "Jazz" Juarez of Hobbs; Kyree McField of Clovis; Bobby Pitts of San Jose, Costa Rica; Alexis Richards of Clovis; Joe Sisneros III of Portales; (dancers) Mark A.
