PORTALES — Change is anticipated at this year's annual Peanut Valley Festival on Oct. 15-16 on the Eastern New Mexico University campus in Portales.

Jennifer Neilson, senior at Eastern New Mexico University, will have a booth dedicated to collecting pocket change for the country of Belize.

The change will be donated to The Word at Work, a nonprofit organization that is significantly involved with the people of Belize.

The Word at Work is a ministry that mobilizes churches and individuals to answer God's call to minister to those in need.

Neilson saw the need first-hand when she went to Belize during the summer. "It broke my heart to leave, especially having to leave the children," said Neilson.

The communication major also uses her photography to help the cause. All of Neilson's photos are can be purchased by donation. She also shoots photos by assignment for donations. All proceeds go to The Word at Work to help ship needed items to families in need.

Neilson said it costs about $8,000 to ship just one crate of items such as wheelchairs, toys, sewing equipment, clothes, etc., to Belize. "Whatever money I can raise to help out, then praise be to God."
