PORTALES--The University Friends of Music will host their annual Pops Dinner Concert on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Union Ballroom on the Portales campus of Eastern New Mexico University.

Diners can join ENMU’s Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble for a wonderful evening of entertainment and fine dining and support scholarships for music students at the same time.

Under the direction of conductor, Dustin Seifert, the student musicians of the ENMU Wind Symphony have prepared a repertoire that will please all musical palates.  As an added attraction, the student Jazz Ensemble, under the director of Ann Bradfield, will also perform.

With an autumn décor and the POPS traditional black and gold musical notes festooning the tables, the event will feature a gourmet meal of pork medallions, rice pilaf and green beans, with salad, hot rolls, and chocolate cake or cheesecake for dessert.  Vegetarian options are also available, if pre-ordered.

Over coffee, diners can compete in the “Name that Tune!” contest, an annual test of musical savvy and tune recognition.  The contest winner conducts the Wind Symphony in a rousing version of the John Philip Souza classic, “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

Tickets are $30 per person ($20 for active military) and will be sold by mail only.  Send check or money order to POPS Dinner Concert, 112 Texas Drive, Portales, NM  88130.

Don’t miss this opportunity to support scholarships for ENMU music students with an evening of great music and fine dining.
