PORTALES – African-American Student Services at Eastern New Mexico University will hold a banquet called "A Celebration of Excellence in Black History" on March 28 in the Campus Union Building Ballroom.
The banquet will feature keynote speaker Frank Jackson, a distinguished historian who will address the story of mankind and diversity.
Dr. Paul Lockman, ENMU professor of sociology, will also be honored. A distinguished and respected figure in the African-American community, Lockman will present a student an award named after Lockman himself.
The event will also honor students that excel in schoolwork and leadership. Awards to student athletes, student leaders and student scholars will be given out that night.
