ENMU Presents ‘An Evening of Music for Clarinet'

Tamara Raatz PORTALES – The School of Music at Eastern New Mexico University presents a faculty recital by Tamara Raatz on Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. in Buchanan Hall in the Music Building. The performance is titled "An Evening of Music for Clarinet."

Raatz was recently appointed assistant professor of clarinet and director of orchestral studies at ENMU. She has performed as a soloist and has traveled as a guest artist in concerts across the United States. Her performances are available on the Vienna Modern Masters and Capstone labels.

Special guests at the concert are David Fleming, piano, and Randall Luster, clarinet.
Fleming is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where he received a bachelor's and master's degree in piano performance with a minor in organ. He received a doctorate of musical arts in collaborative keyboard arts from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He is the second person to receive this degree in the U.S.

Luster attended Sam Houston State University where he graduated with honors. He also attended the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where he received his master's degree in clarinet performance. Luster is the head band director at Sablatura Middle School in Pearland, Texas.

The trio will perform classical pieces from Ralph Vaughan Williams, Robert Schumann, Francis Poulenc, George Gershwin, Paul Hindemith, and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.

The performance is free and open to the public.
