PORTALES – Dr. Steven Gamble, president of Eastern New Mexico University, has announced changes in two job positions at Eastern.
Janice Cowen, interim director of Alumni Affairs since March of 2001, has been named coordinator of Alumni Affairs and will report to Dr. Gary Musgrave, vice president for Student Affairs. Ms. Cowen, a Portales High School graduate, began working at Eastern in 1994 as department/division secretary for University Relations/Alumni Affairs.
"Janice's fine work has earned her this position," said Dr. Gamble. "The alumni I talked with prior to offering Janice the position on a permanent basis were very enthusiastic about the job she has been doing. We're very pleased to have someone with Janice's experience to facilitate our relationship with our graduates."
Chris Mullins, director of Human Relations and Affirmative Action officer since July of 1997, has been named associate director of Personnel. She will report directly to Oscar Robinson, director of Personnel. Her duties as affirmative action officer and grievance officer will carry into the new assignment.
Since beginning her employment in 1976, Ms. Mullins has worked at the Physical Plant, Personnel and Affirmative Action.
"Chris has done an exceptional job as the affirmative action and human relations officer," said Dr. Gamble. "This new appointment will broaden her responsibilities significantly. With her long history of dedicated service to Eastern, Chris is a great example of how employees can advance in their careers and make Eastern the great school that it is."
