ROSWELL-- Joe Sedillo, formerly the director of the ENMU-Roswell Business Office, has been appointed the Acting Dean of Administrative Services. Dr. Judy Armstrong, Provost, made the appointment following the resignation of Richard Cervantes, who accepted a position with New Mexico Tech. Sedillo will serve as Acting Dean of Administrative Services while the position is advertised and a permanent dean is hired.
As Dean of Administrative Services, Sedillo is responsible for the administration of the business affairs of the Roswell campus, which includes the Business Office, Payroll, Physical Plant, Food Services, Bookstore and Police Department. "Joe is more than capable of serving in this very important position until a permanent dean is hired," said Armstrong. "We are fortunate to have someone with his financial background, solid experience, and good judgment. Joe has done an outstanding job as director of the Business Office, and he will serve our campus well as the Acting Dean," she said.
"I consider it a privilege to work along side a strong core group of people. It is an honor to serve the university students, staff and community members," said Sedillo.
Sedillo had been serving as the director of the Business Office on campus for the past two years. Prior to that he was the Assistant Controller at Armstrong Construction from 1987 to 2000. He also worked as a staff accountant at Nulf Jones and Co. CPA's from 1980 to 1987.
Sedillo has a bachelor's degree in accounting from ENMU and an associate's degree in business administration from ENMU-Roswell. He has served as Vice President and board member for Roswell Child Care Resource and Referral; Co-Chairman of the RISD Multicultural Alliance; and Vice President/Treasurer of RIAC Sertoma.
He received the Outstanding Contributor award from the Roswell Independent School District in 1996 and a Leadership Award from the RISD Multicultural Alliance.
Prior to working at ENMU-Roswell, Sedillo also served on the ENMU-R Multicultural Advisory Committee.
