PORTALES – Two Eastern New Mexico University bands are having their last
concerts of the year.
The Percussion Ensemble will perform April 22 in Buchanan Hall at 7 p.m. and the Steel Drum Band will have their last performance April 24 at 6:30 p.m. and at 8 p.m. on the Dallan Sanders Memorial Plaza by the Campus Union Building.
The Percussion Ensemble is a student group directed by Neil Rutland, instructor of percussion. The ensemble will play pieces by Pat Metheny, Bobby Christian, Warren Benson and Lou Harrison.
The Steel Drum Band is also a student group directed by Rutland. They will play a variety of calypso and Caribbean-style music.
Both performances are free and open to the public.
