PORTALES – The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Theatre and Dance presents "Desert Stories, Spring Dance Concert" on May 2-4 at 8 p.m. in the University Theatre Center, Mainstage.
This year's concert will feature work by Jill Pribyl, director, with a new work created by Martha Wittman of the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange of Washington, DC. Members of the Dance Exchange will also perform. The Dance Exchange has been described as a company that creates "Visionary work of extraordinary eloquence" New York Times.
Members of the Dance Exchange will also conduct a workshop at the University Theatre Center on Thursday, May 2 from 9:30-12 noon. This workshop entitled "Critical Response" will look at how to talk about and give feedback on dance works. ENMU students will perform during the workshop.
This project is part of the National College Choreography Initiate Grant. The National College Choreography Initiate was made possible through generous funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Target Stores, Marshall Field's and Mervyn's, with support form the Target Foundation.
