PORTALES – Several employees in Admissions and Student Affairs have either recently changed responsibilities or been newly hired.
Donna Kittrell is a new coordinator of Student Success (Michelle Ficke is the other one); Will Kayatin is the director of Student Activities and Organizations; Diana Cordova is the director of Multicultural Affairs; and Phyllis Seefeld is the interim director of Admissions.
Donna has been working at ENMU for 14 years. She started out as a cashier, then worked as a secretary, accounting clerk, and, most recently, as a book buyer for the Bookstore.
As a coordinator of Student Success, she works with the Enrollment Management Action System (EMAS) while providing personal assistance and services for students. She is also responsible for working with the President's Ambassadors. "I'm really excited about my new position because it gives me a chance to promote Eastern, and help increase enrollment," Donna commented.
This is Will's first year at Eastern. He was associate director of Student Activities for two years at Texas Tech in Lubbock, and before that was assistant director of Student Government and Organizations at the University of Texas in Arlington. As director of Student Activities and Organizations, he oversees all students organizations and the Associated Students Activities Board.
"The students are what brought me to Eastern," Will admitted. "They are terrific and I am having a blast."
Diana began working for ENMU three years ago as an Admissions counselor/recruiter. She was in charge of recruitment for international students, as well as in the Texas, Arizona, and California area. She also taught a couple of Spanish classes at the University.
In her new position, she is in charge of all cultural organizations. Her responsibilities include assisting in developing, coordinating, and promoting multicultural activities and organizations, helping with student orientations and recruiting, and supervising workstudy students in each multicultural affairs office.
"Understanding the likenesses and differences of all people has always been my passion since I come from a very multicultural background. We will only succeed with the understanding that all cultures have value, and ENMU is aiming completely in that direction," says Diana.
Phyllis has worked for Admissions for several years. Before becoming interim director of Admissions, she was operations manager for Admissions. She works very closely with the staff, including the Student Success coordinators and recruiters.
"I am looking forward to working directly with our staff to improve enrollment," Phyllis said. "These new changes will be good for ENMU."
