PORTALES – The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Theatre and Dance is hosting their sixth annual Summer Youth Theatre and Dance Workshop from 1-4 p.m. on Monday-Friday, June 3-15.
The seminar provides children with the chance to experience live theatre and dance. It will consist of four sessions: acting, taught by Daryl Phillipy; dance, taught by Jill Pribyl; scenic and lighting design, taught by Felipe Macias; and costume design, taught by John James Rutuelo.
These sessions will include improvisation, scenic studies, African dance, creative movement, mask-making, scenic painting, and fabric painting. At the end of the workshop there will be a live performance by the children and staff.
Workshop participants must be between the ages of 8-16. The cost is $50 per child, with scholarships available based on financial need.
