ENMU Auditor Bill Jones Headed to ENMU-Roswell (apparently gave good accounting of self)

ROSWELL – Dr. Judy Armstrong, provost of Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell, has announced the selection of Bill Jones as the new dean of Administrative Services on campus.

Jones is currently the internal auditor for Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. He will be responsible for the business/financial/purchasing operations of the campus, in addition to the physical plant, bookstore, security, and food service operations. Jones will start his new position on June 10.

"I am every excited with the opportunity to become part of the Roswell campus staff," said Jones. "I am quite familiar with the Roswell campus and Roswell community and the two have formed a partnership which has resulted in a great deal of success. I have been able to closely observe the campus over the years and have found Roswell to be a very progressive and successful campus in striving to provide a quality education for students and in meeting economic development needs of the community. I am both excited and pleased with the opportunity to become part of such a team," he said.

"I appreciate all of the effort and hard work that the search committee did," said Armstrong. "With his varied experience and familiarity with the New Mexico higher educational system, Bill will be a perfect fit for ENMU-Roswell. He will be a valuable asset to our administrative team and we welcome him to the Roswell campus," she said.

Jones has 30 years of experience in the area of college and university accounting and business affairs, spending the past 22 years at ENMU. He is a certified internal auditor and has an MBA with a major in accounting from ENMU. He also received a bachelor's degree in business administration from West Texas A & M University in 1971.

As internal auditor, Jones assured the ENMU president and Board of Regents that the directives, policies, and procedures of the university were carried out in accordance with state law and good management practices. As director of Accounting at Texas A & M University in Corpus Christi, he was responsible for financial reporting, budgetary control, payroll functions, purchasing practices, and telephone services.

Jones has also worked as a part-time resource faculty member at ENMU, teaching courses in accounting principles, as well as upper division and graduate level courses in internal auditing.
