PORTALES – It's time to pack your bags and get ready for an exciting summer vacation. Featuring enticing vacation packages to various destinations throughout the United States and Europe, the KENW-TV Tele-Auction offers something for everyone. Now in its twenty-sixth year, the Auction has become a tradition among loyal viewers who buy approximately 2,000 items through a live televised bidding process.
Featuring 128 different vacation packages, viewers/bidders can watch, bid (high) and buy a vacation package of their dreams. Vacation destinations in New Mexico include Tucumcari, Cloudcroft, Silver City and Taos, as well as Albuquerque, Roswell, Ruidoso and Chama. Other hotels in Alto, Los Alamos, Las Vegas, Hobbs and Red River have donated various lodging and entertainment opportunities for the lucky high bidder.
Some of the out-of-state destinations include D & S Narrow Gauge Railroad in Durango, Colo., and the Texas Musical Drama in Canyon, Texas. Some of the biggest and best vacation packages year include a 6-day, 5-night stayat the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii, and two London trips, one with airfare included.
One of the London trips is with the Red Carnation Hotel Collection and features a choice of either 3 nights or a 2-night stay for two people. The other trip is called the Friendship Tour and not only includes lodging for 6 days and 5 nights and airfare on American Airlines, there are tour tickets and theater tickets for "The Full Monty." Other exciting destinations include the Best Western Capistrano Inn and the Ramada Inn and Conferenec Center in California.
Serious bidders will want to request a FREE Express Bid Number to facilitate faster bidding. Since the Auction boards sell in three minutes, bidders with their own personal Express Bid Number will be able to get their high bids placed faster and more accurately. Having the Express Bid Numbers also makes it easier for the volunteer telephone operators to take the callers' bids.
To get a free Express Bid Number for the 2002 KENW-TV Tele-Auction, viewers/bidders should call the station Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to request the number. Town & Country Stores throughout the viewing area are providing three $100.00 gas gift certificates that will be given away every other evening to one lucky high bidder. Only those who overbid Monday and Tuesday will be considered for Tuesday's drawing; overbids on Wednesday and Thursday will be in the drawing on Thursday, and overbids that come in Friday and Saturday evening will be drawn from on Saturday evening.
Be a part of this year's Auction action and WATCH, BID and BUY during the 26th annual KENW-TV Tele-Auction, June 3-8 . KENW-TV is the public television station serving Eastern New Mexico and West Texas, and proceeds from the Tele-Auction are used to purchase and broadcast quality programming. The Auction will begin each evening at 6 p.m. (MST), and selling will continue each evening until 11 p.m.
