ROSWELL – The Art Department of ENMU-Roswell will present "5,000 Flowers Roswell-A Memorial Art Exhibit' on Sept. 4-27 at the Roswell Convention Center and Civic Center lobby. The show will feature artworks by ENMU-Roswell and ENMU-Ruidoso faculty members in memory of the losses of September 11.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be held Friday, Sept. 6, from 3-5 p.m. The show will be open for public viewing during the Civic Center's normal business hours.

"5,000 Flowers-Roswell" is one of the many art events currently underway across the region and the nation, all based on the theme of flowers which are symbols of beauty and growth. Two Albuquerque artists, Carol Adamec and Sondra Diepen, created the project out of the idea that flowers could serve as an antidote to the horror and destruction of Sept. 11.

The focus of the exhibit is commemorative, rather than commercial. Prices of artwork will not be listed, but contact information for each participating artist will be available.

Participating artists from ENMU-Roswell will be Jennie Bower, Bob Phillips and Nancy Phillips. Participating artists from ENMU-Ruidoso will be Judy Pekelsma of Ruidoso and Susan Weir-Ancker of Lincoln. For more information about the Roswell exhibit, contact Bower at 624.7226.
